America is the greatest country on the face of the earth.  I believe every American has the right to life, liberty, and property.  I believe in low taxes, the right to bear arms, personal freedom and responsibility.  I am pro-life and I believe in protecting the sanctity of marriage.  As a former military officer, I believe we are responsible for caring for our veterans returning from defending our freedom.  

Taxes

Our biggest obstacle to stronger and sustainable growth in our economy is the current tax structure. It is too complex, outdated, and unfair to all taxpayers. The main function of our taxes is to fund the federal government, not to be used as a manipulative tool to abuse power. Our tax code is so complex even some of our national leaders have trouble complying with it. The tax code has thousands of pages and is estimated to cost $450 billion a year in compliance related expenses.

Economy

The Keynesian economic philosophy of our current administration is both inappropriate and dangerous. Government spending will not create jobs or sustain our economy over the long term. There is a reason we are the richest and most prosperous nation on earth, it is called the Free Market. The ability of individuals and companies to compete free of government intervention is what makes this system work.

Spending

The Federal government is spending way too much tax payer money resulting in record budget deficits and over stepping their constitutional authority. If allowed to continue this could have catastrophic economic consequences. The Obama administration is complicating this by spending more money and trying to control large aspects of the free market by taking control of private companies.

Immigration

I, like most Americans, favor legal immigration. However, illegal aliens are one of the biggest threats our country now faces. It is not just the fact that undocumented workers costs tax payers billions of dollars each year and depress wages for our citizen workforce, but it has become a national security issue as well.

Education

First of all education is supposed to be a function of state and local government. This is because they know the needs, demographics, and interest of their students better than the federal government. We do not need a Department of Education on the national level.

Health Care

This issue is a state and local responsibility. At their level, officials have a better understanding of the citizens needs and are in a much better position to develop and implement innovative and cost saving measures, which are effective.

This issue cannot wait any longer to be addressed. The unfunded liability of the trust fund is several trillion dollars and will be completely broke in less than 20 years.

Veterans and the Military

Because of the efforts of our veterans and the active duty military we are able to enjoy the freedom guaranteed by the Constitution. It is the responsibility of the federal government to take care of this most important part of our society. Our veterans should not have to go through red tape for any benefit that they are entitled too.

Energy and the Environment

We must move towards or become completely energy independent. This will include using and extracting our own domestic supplies of energy. That means allowing for drilling in ANWAR, off our coasts, and in the Rocky Mountain oil shale formations.

Family and Faith

Strong families and moral faith are the backbone of a society. People who come from strong families are less likely to face poverty. At the same time, people who have faith and moral convictions are also more likely to stay married and out of poverty.
